Paul de Wailly started to compose when 17 in 1871 and became one of the rare students of César Franck, who taught him “everything I know.”
He lived the life of a society gentleman attending the “season” in Paris and resorting to his château “Bagatelle” in the country each year in Spring. De Wailly was not an avant-garde composer, which earned him a rather indifferent reception of his works in the early 20th Century.
Floricor Edition presents the first complete edition of his Octet op. 22.
