After studying composition with his father Hendrik Andriessen and lessons in conducting and instrumentation with Willem van Otterloo, Jurriaan Andriessen became a many-sided and very versatile musician, who knew his way as easily in the concert hall, as in the film studio or in the theatre. He also performed as jazz pianist under the name of Leslie Cool.
Floricor Edition licensed two of his well-known wind compositions (written for the Netherlands Wind Ensemble) from the catalogue of Donemus Amsterdam.
