The great composer of operas in the beginning of the 19th Century was Carl Maria von Weber. Despite his relatively short life he wrote no less than ten of them and many other works that were meant to serve as an accompaniment in a theatre performance.
The ouvertures of his operas became standard symphony orchestra repertoire in the course of time. Of course the operas (and their ouvertures) also were arranged for Harmoniemusik in this case by the Viennese arranger Friederich Starke (and not by Wenzel Sedlak as announced in the Floricor Editions Catalogue No 1).
