Antonio Rosetti (1750-1792)

Antonio Rosetti was born as František Antonin Rössler. He took his professional italian name (little roses) after the coat of arms of his family. Although he was educated as priest, he turned to a career in music soon and became double bass player for the Oettingen-Wallerstein Court in 1773. (He is supposed to be the double bass player on the well-known Harmoniemusik silhouette.)
Rosetti was a famous musician and very much in demand. He wrote an extensive oeuvre, primarily in the realm of orchestral and chamber music.
His work for winds are an important contribution to the Harmoniemusik repertoire.
